The Story

About This Place

Peppe's Forno occupies a compact storefront on Nguyễn Bá Huân, the boutique-lined strip in Thảo Điền that fills with weekend browsers. The menu covers Italian pastry well beyond what most diners in Ho Chi Minh City encounter — the tette delle monache, a gluten-free domed pastry named after a nun's habit and available in pistachio or chocolate, has become a signature item with its own dedicated following. The bombe — soft, pillowed Italian doughnuts with Roman origins — and the cornetto fill out the pastry case alongside cannocini, a crispy shell with chocolate filling that regulars return for specifically.

The tiramisu comes in multiple forms: a classic version using mascarpone that reviewers describe as notably well-balanced, and a pistachio variant that draws consistent praise. A passion fruit version has also appeared. The focaccia sells quickly; early arrivals have a better chance. Seasonal Mọc Châu strawberries rotate through the menu in smoothies, standalone boxes, and toppings. The Linzer tart is made with homemade plum jam, and the amorpolenta uses polenta flour and dark chocolate in the base.

The gluten-free range is wider than most bakeries in the neighborhood — multiple tette options and sugar-free cantucci both appear. Staff take time to explain the background and ingredients of unfamiliar items, which matters on a menu where several pastries have no local equivalent. The shop is closed on Mondays and opens at 8 AM the rest of the week, making it a realistic breakfast destination before foot traffic picks up on the street.

The clientele is a mix of long-term expats, food-focused locals, and visitors who find the address through word of mouth. Orders hold up through Grab delivery as well as counter service, which the 151-review average of 4.9 reflects across both formats.

What I love about this place is the cozy home feeling I get every time I enter. The staff is so incredibly kind, it feels like grandma’s kitchen rather than a cafe. In this world on overhyped Instagrammable coffee shops, this is my go to place for an authentic small-scale made pastry. The ingredients are highly qualitative and that’s what makes all the difference. I return to try something new every visit and I haven’t had anything I would regret! Ask for advice - especially if you are gluten free or allergic to some ingredients, the chef will explain you exactly what is inside each pastry. Truly made with love 🩷 Dear Peppe’s Forno team: I wish you to have many returning customers like myself - thank you for all the sweet moments 🫶🏻

You’ll never truly understand the feeling of sitting in a waiting lounge at noon, enjoying a delicious focaccia generously filled with soft, fragrant, slightly salty prosciutto. The gentle bitterness of fresh rocket wraps around every bite, while the sweet-tart notes of cherry tomatoes linger beautifully in the background. The olives are wonderfully aromatic, bringing everything together in a perfect explosion of flavors. Oh, what a delight for the senses! I’m absolutely in love with Peppe’s Forno. Thank you for opening this little slice of heaven. 🥹❤️🥖✨🍅🫒

What a quaint little delight of a place this shop is. The shop cabinets are full of delicious hand made goodies. Jars full of cookies and other tasty snacks. A mixture of drinks to choose from hot or cold. Plain or simple there is something for everybody to try. They also stock some gluten-free options for those find it hard finding a cheeky snack. But what took our breath away was the chocolate pizza. The best dough with a bread/ sourdough taste with melted chocolate that ooze through the layers. We would give this 100 out of 10. We will be back to try some different things and thanks again for looking after us

My favorite place on earth! I have been here for 2 years and still not eaten enough of Peppe’s pastries. I love Pepper’s tiramisu and Cannocini. The tiramisu is creamy and the mascarpone used in the tiramisu tastes amazing! The cannocini is butter, flaky and the chocolate filling is decadent! Last but the least, the owner and staffs are very friendly. I had a lovely time anytime I visit and they are always welcoming and open to explain to me the taste and ingredients of each pastries. Plus, I can’t count the times I was given freebies 😘 100/100, would recommend for anyone to try out at least once!
