This restaurant completely exceeded my expectations. From the very first bite, I was impressed by how beautifully everything was prepared. The portions were just right for two people, and every single dish was delicious. I also really appreciated how generous they were with the bread, which made the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. Most importantly, every dish was served hot and full of flavor. The chef was incredibly kind and welcoming, which made the experience even more memorable. I have nothing but compliments for this place and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an amazing meal. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Secret Wines shop and Lounge - French restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Secret Wines occupies a particular niche in Thao Dien's restaurant scene: it is genuinely French, not just French-adjacent. The owner — Jean — is on the floor most nights, walking guests through the wine list with the kind of granular enthusiasm that comes from personal investment rather than training. The chef is also French, and the cooking reflects that dual origin story: classic technique, carefully sourced ingredients, and a charcuterie and cheese board that regulars rate as the best in Saigon. The wine list leans toward lesser-known producers and atypical varietals, making it a draw for guests who have worked through the standard Thao Dien wine-bar circuit and want something different. The room is warm and elegant without being stiff — a setting that works equally well for a business lunch or a slow dinner with no particular agenda. Tables are limited, which keeps the atmosphere from tipping into noise, but it also means the place fills quickly; reservations are advisable, particularly for weekend evenings. Lunch runs 11:30 to 2 PM; dinner from 5:30. Sundays the kitchen is dark. With a 4.9 rating across 120 Google reviews, it sits at the top of Thao Dien's French dining options — not because of spectacle, but because the fundamentals are handled with care and the hospitality is sincere.
Reviews
A gorgeous space with finely curated charcuterie board. It was lovely at first sight. The charcuterie board took my heart away. Absolutely fresh and delicious, best I have ever taken from across the world. We did not try other dishes there as we just visit for an after dinner drinks. But looking at the board I am pretty sure the dishes will be excellent too. Cheers to the chef. For me it is a place I will surely return. And I am looking forward.
Secret wines should not be kept secret any longer. Very elegant and yumy french bistronomy with elaborated vietnamese ingredients. Guillaume the chef is a passionate former 2star cook. Jean Luc the owner is a visionary. They will open soon in a prime location in d1. Cannot wait. They are the secret agents of great french food
Had lunch here and it completely exceeded our expectations. Great atmosphere, great service, great wine and the food was the real standout. Prices were reasonable too. We’ll be back for sure.
superb. we had the cold cut platter and the duck. the medium cold cut is easily enough for 2 people. the duck was cooked to perfection. bread was free. the wine was spot on! 2 glasses of wine, one soft drink, 2 free starters, 2 meals, came to 1.5 million vnd. well worth it!
