Soma/Green Box, is a very cool, cafe, restaurant, and dare I say workspace. It’s located in the beautiful heart of Thao Dien, and if you’re looking to connect, or just be around the ‘expat community’ then this is definitely one of the places to be. There is an extensive and very affordable menu, that accommodates all culinary preferences, with a wide range of healthy drinks, Vietnamese ca phe, and tea. The staff are very attentive and you don’t have to wait long to get service. I ordered the ‘Chix Bowl’ and a Peach Tea and happily munched my way through this flavorful and wholesome meal, trying to savor the multiple textures and tastes, but admittedly finding it hard to resist wolfing it down. This is a great place for meetings, socializing, or just catching up on your emails, there is plenty of seating and it’s perfectly ergonomically spaced out so you’ll never be too close to someone if you want some privacy. The owner has done a fantastic job of making this a very friendly and relaxed environment, you’ll feel at ease amidst the beautiful foliage of the open air seating space or inside the well lit, spacious interior. Soma/Green Box is one of those places where you could happily work your way through the entire menu. Not all at once obviously! See you again soon and thanks for feeding and watering me! 🙏🏼

SOMA @ Green Box - Cafe in Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
SOMA @ Green Box occupies an unusual position on the Thao Dien dining spectrum — it opens at 8 AM as a cafe and keeps going until midnight as a cocktail bar, without a hard pivot between the two. The food menu reads like a world atlas rendered as grain bowls and flatbreads: Middle Eastern baba ganoush and za'atar appear alongside miso-glazed salmon and sushi rice, while a kimchi quesadilla bridges Korean and Tex-Mex without apology. The Hello-Me plate pairs halloumi with avocado and ancient grains; the Shawarma Ramah brings blackened chicken, feta, and mint into one bowl. Dishes like the LGBTQ Bowl and Pull Up Plate signal a kitchen comfortable with playful naming alongside genuinely considered ingredient combinations. The Tahini Tahini — black bean falafel with beetroot hummus — sits firmly in the plant-forward category that makes up a solid portion of the menu, though the Kale! Caesar with coconut-poached chicken and the deep-fried chicken cutlet sandwich confirm this is not a strictly health-food operation. With 784 Google reviews at 4.4 stars, the venue draws a consistent crowd of expats and locals who want flexibility: laptop open at noon, cocktails after dinner, or both on the same tab. On a quieter block off the main Thao Dien artery, it functions as a reliable all-day anchor — one of the few spots in the neighborhood where the kitchen and bar operate at full stretch from breakfast through to last call.

Been here several times. The place is packed full of foreigners. The drinks are pretty good. Understandable pricing considering its location. There's an English club every Thursday for those who wanna practice.

First time here yesterday and was amazed. Great atmosphere, comfy vibes with indoor and outdoor space. Tons of greenery. The staff are so friendly and so attentive. Also was shocked by how big the salads were and how good. Picture doesn’t do it justice. Great space to work from or great space to just hangout with good company
Discovered a true culinary gem today at Soma! Every dish was a perfect balance of aesthetics, flavor, and quality. The salmon bowl was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully plated — with a dressing that tied everything together perfectly. And the chia pudding with fruits and crunchy toppings? Absolutely divine. It was so good, I didn’t even manage to take a photo before diving in! The vibe is cozy, the service is attentive, and the whole experience just makes you want to come back again and again. Definitely one of the best spots in Saigon for a wholesome and beautiful meal.
