Very good banh mi. My friends and I ordered the Yakiniku beef banh mi and the lemongrass pork mince skewers and enjoyed them so much. Thao is very friendly and made the banh mi for us personally.

TAO banhmi cafe - Bakery in Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
TAO banhmi cafe on Xuân Thủy draws a steady mix of Thảo Điền locals, expat regulars, and first-time visitors for bánh mì that goes well beyond the standard street-cart formula. The menu spans from a crowd-pleasing Beef Supreme — the reported best seller, with tender beef and well-balanced layers — to more unconventional fillings like chicken teriyaki, eel, and a vegan option that rarely appears on bánh mì menus in the neighbourhood.
The baguette is a focal point: soft crumb, crispy shell, sized to handle generous portions without collapsing. The Hercules Beef and the Triple Treat, loaded with pork and scrambled eggs, are the two dishes most frequently cited by regulars, both built around rich, bold flavours. Drinks extend the same creative push — the Peach Yuzu Lemongrass Tea and Mango Passion smoothie each earn their own mentions in reviews, treated as highlights rather than afterthoughts.
Pricing is reasonable for the area given the portion sizes, service is quick and smiley, and free WiFi makes it a workable midday stop. One detail that catches first-time visitors off guard: the back of the shop doubles as an outlet for Vietnamese fashion, an odd but functional pairing for anyone who wants to browse after eating.
With a 4.9 rating across nearly 500 Google reviews, this is one of the more consistently praised spots on the Thảo Điền food circuit. Open daily from 8 AM through the afternoon, it fits naturally into a morning run along Xuân Thủy or a lunch break between An Khánh errands — reliable enough for daily regulars, distinctive enough to warrant a detour.
Reviews
Had the Bo La (Beef Stew Baguette) and it was so good!! The picture here doesn't do the portion size justice because there was plenty of meat deep within the bowl. Also had the white Vietnamese coffee which was delicious. Not to mention, the ladies working here were excellent. I will definitely be back!
I was walking in hungry and wanted quick meal in cooling nice place as HCM is bloody hot. All indoor seats are occupied by 2 group of people speaking quite loud and oddly gesture. But I still ordered take away.. The shop looks decently big from the outside but limited seating area inside. Price list never say excluded GST. On the menu it was 127.000vnd for a Banh Mi Xiu Mai but they charge 137.000 and explained that it's excluded GST. Only 1 staff...waiting time feels like forever. I had to stand and wait for at least 15-20' just for Banh Mi. Which normally Vietnamese street vendor can do in max 5' give or take. Such a horrible experience. Never come back there again.
Not your traditional banh mi but the flavors are incredible. We ordered the grilled pork rib and grilled pork skewers, both were packed with bold flavors, juicy meat, the right balance of sweetness from pickled carrots, and a little kick from the chili pepper made this a delicious lunch for us. Shop is very small and only has 3 tables, there are outdoor seating but it is 35c degrees outside at lunch time. Overall a great place for lunch!
Highly recommend this Vietnamese baguette shop. Two were more than enough for a family of four. The ingredients were very fresh, and of course, they also have delicious coffee.
