Eddie's is one of the few places I've tried that serves authentic American comfort food. I visited the Thao Dien branch, and the first thing that caught my attention was the atmosphere—it felt just like the classic American diners you often see in movies. I ordered a hamburger, a hot dog with smashed potatoes in gravy and mayo cabbage, onion rings, and pancakes with honey for dessert. The portions are huge, so if you don't eat much, you might want to share. Everything was well executed, with good flavors and quality ingredients. It was enjoyable, but personally it didn't quite reach the "wow" level for me. One detail I really appreciated was the selection of condiments on every table. Seeing brands like Tabasco and Heinz added a nice authentic touch to the overall experience. The prices aren't cheap, but they're reasonable considering the portion sizes and quality. Overall, it's a great place to experience authentic American food in Ho Chi Minh City, especially if you're craving that classic diner vibe.

About This Place
Eddie's New York Deli & Diner brings a Route 66 sensibility to Thao Dien — the décor leans 50s and 60s Americana, with a lived-in diner atmosphere that's rare in this neighborhood. The all-day breakfast menu is the main draw: biscuits and pork gravy made fresh, big breakfast burritos stuffed with scrambled eggs, peppers, and onions, and full platters stacking pancakes, ham, bacon, sausage, and home fries onto a single order. The kitchen runs equally well at lunch and dinner, producing double smash burgers, Reuben sandwiches loaded with corned beef, and a mac'n'cheese with chili con carne that regulars repeatedly single out.
Milkshakes generate consistent attention across the 1,600-plus reviews — the peanut butter and salted caramel and the Oreo versions come up most often, and the house recipe keeps sweetness calibrated rather than overwhelming. Freshly baked cinnamon buns and toasted bagels round out a pastry selection that pulls early-morning visitors as reliably as the lunch crowd.
Portions run large and prices stay accessible for the neighborhood. The 600K combo — spaghetti, steak, fries, and roasted chicken — gives a sense of the kitchen's scale. The menu extends well beyond the American diner label: Chinese dishes, vegetarian options, and a full burrito lineup appear alongside the diner classics, and Coke comes with free refills.
The crowd skews toward expat families and visitors looking for a reliable full breakfast outside of hotel dining, alongside neighborhood regulars who return for the burger and shake combinations. Tables fit groups of four comfortably, and the space handles walk-ins even on weekends. Service draws frequent mention — staff are noted as attentive and approachable, and occasional complimentary touches like a waffle dessert have made it into multiple independent reviews.

Got all-day breakfast for dinner 🤣 It was delicious and the service was great. It was almost closing time, so the place was pretty quiet. Overall, lovely experience. The only downside is that it’s a bit overpriced 😥
Eddies Diner says it all😁 Authentic Experience , I had a Reuben’s and a Milkshake.(banana and peanut butter) Cant fault the milkshake. The Reuben’s had the flavours and the juicy filling. The Onion rings were large and suited the Reuben but by the last one I felt that the crunchy crispy batter was a bit thick. That may just be a personal thing though.
The place looks nice ,like a diner from the 50s. Lots of choice on the menu, but I find it rather confusing. But its good that they even have options for vegetarian, although i'm not onemofnthem. Food was good, not the standard stuff. Cinnamon roll could be better. Staffs were good and seems to be having fun working there. Update: updated to 5 star due to the amazing reply by owner and the fact that i still think about this place although I'm out of Vietnam.
The burgers were juicy & flavorful. The milkshake was creamy and not overly sweet. Plus, the staff were so warm and attentive. Highly recommend 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
